How Your AFQT Score Is Calculated

The AFQT is the single number that determines your military eligibility. It comes from just four of the ten ASVAB subtests.

The AFQT Formula

Your raw AFQT score is computed, then converted to a percentile (1–99) based on a nationally representative reference group.

AFQT = AR + MK + (2 × VE)

where VE (Verbal Expression) = WK + PC standard scores combined

KeyWK and PC are weighted double through the VE composite — verbal skills matter a lot.
